7/14/11 Session 6

Reflections of Technology Bootcamp...  Since Itechnology has always been a challenge for me, regardless of whether it was something as simple as operating the VCR or learning how to begin on a computer (probably having to do with attending a one-room schoolhouse where this part of education was not even a possiblitany), I am always amazed when I learn how to do something that I can use, even if it takes me longer to master than others.  I knew when I signed up, that it would be an eye opener and offer ways to improve instruction for my students and ways to enhance communication with them as well.  This class did not just offer ways to communicate with students but also with m;y colleagues.

Annette, The class has not disappointed me, and you have been especially patient and generous with encouragement and kindness for those of us who are not as current as we would like to be with our skills.  Thanks you!

I have learned so much, but even better, I have had the opportunity to practice and share this experience with my colleagues who will also be able to reinforce things we learned and I did not completely master.  I did not know for sure what blogging, twitter, podcast, etc. even meant, but I not only have some idea of those terms now, but also I am thinking of ways that I can make use of the many tools we have for our  use.    This has been a very positive experience.

July 14 Session Wiki

Whitepanther and I did a private wiki...very exciting!  Who would believe!  We can have discussions even when we are in other buildings.  I never had been on utube before...what an eye opener!  I sometimes think I must live in a different world!  This morning was fun and a bit frightening, but I am working on bona fides!

Session 5 7/14/11

Third day...a charm; hopefully it all comes together.  I am ready to tackle whatever we do!
Carpe diem!

Session 4...Flickr

I have looked at lots of pictures and found out that I have an account already that my daughter had added me to.  Not only that but she had even sent via that account trips that her family has taken.  What a pleasure to find pictures from 2008 of trips they had taken.  I love looking at all the pictures that are avaiable, but felt this picture depicted probably my teaching of Latin the best!  This has certainly opened a whole new area for me to explore.

Morning...RSS

I now have a newsreader and some subscriptions to look at.  Hopefully, it will save me time, as I did not add a ton...the weather one should be really helpful when we are under a weather watch. as long as we have electricity, which I was without for fourteen days the last time.

Tagging & Bookmarking (How to)

I have a horrible feeling of drowning...overwhelmed!  This is the site I need to continue to refer to because eventually I will get comfortable with this.  There is so much here that can be useful so I just need to persist and pursue.  I liked the info I found on grammar & vocabulary games, as I know my students will enjoy learning by both with a different approach.

Goals

1.  Understand what I have created
2.  Be able to use what I have created
3.  Once I know what I am doing, begin using in the classroom

The excitement of learning!
